Narrated in a warm pastoral voice. The full text is read exactly as written.

Scripture Reading

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." — 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17 "But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." — 1 JOHN 1:7

Explanation of the Passage

A Christian is a 'new creation.' The old life of sin is over, and a new life of righteousness has begun. This new life is characterized by 'walking in the light'—living in transparency and obedience before God.

Giving the Sense

The sense of the new life is transformation. It is not just about changing a few behaviors, but receiving a new nature and a new purpose. Continuous cleansing is available as we continue to walk with Him.

Understanding the Truth

Being a Christian is an ongoing walk, not a one-time event. We must commit to growing in holiness and maintaining our fellowship with God every day.

Supporting Scriptures

Romans 12:1-2 Ephesians 4:22-24 Colossians 3:1-10

Reflection Questions

Think through these on your own, or discuss them with a fellow student or mentor.

1 In what ways have you become a 'new creation'? 2 What does 'walking in the light' look like in your daily routine? 3 How do we deal with sin after we become Christians?

Next Step

Identify one 'old thing' from your past life that still tries to pull you back, and replace it with a 'new thing' that honors God.
