Lesson 2 min read

Narrated in a warm pastoral voice. The full text is read exactly as written.

Scripture Reading

"Pray without ceasing." — 1 THESSALONIANS 5:17 "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." — 2 TIMOTHY 2:15

Explanation of the Passage

Growth requires discipline. Prayer is our communication with God, and Bible study is how He communicates with us. 'Rightly dividing' the Word means handling it accurately and applying it correctly.

Giving the Sense

The sense of these disciplines is relationship. You cannot know someone you do not talk to or listen to. Prayer and study are the 'breath' and 'food' of the spiritual life.

Understanding the Truth

Every Christian is responsible for their own spiritual growth. We must be 'workers' who are diligent in learning and living the truth.

Supporting Scriptures
