Scripture Reading
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." — GENESIS 1:1 "He who does not love does not know God, for God is love." — 1 JOHN 4:8
Explanation of the Passage
God is the eternal Creator who exists before all things. He is not a distant force, but a personal Being defined by holiness, justice, and perfect love. Recognizing God as Creator establishes His right to rule over our lives.
Giving the Sense
True worship begins with acknowledging who God is. His holiness means He is set apart from sin, and His love means He desires a relationship with us. These two attributes meet at the cross of Christ.
Understanding the Truth
Understanding God's nature reveals our own need. Because He is holy, we see our sin; because He is love, we see the hope of redemption.
